Introduction
CuckooGuide is a newly developed tour-guiding product, based on RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) technology. It is able to automatically detect nearby exhibits, and plays pre-recorded commentary with the language of user choice, giving visitors a whole new experience.
- Automatically detects exhibits
Only a RFID tag, as small as a name-card size, is required to be placed beside each exhibit. Visitors only need to tap the RFID Tag with their CuckooGuide and the pre-recorded commentary will be played.
- Multi-language, Multi-level
Different languages can be pre-recorded for each exhibit. Also, for each exhibit, the commentary will have different versions, gauged at different levels for different visitors, eg. More interesting and less intellectually demanding recordings are children and more advanced commentary suitable for the professionals.
- Easy-to-install, lower cost
The RFID technology is already well-established and has been mass produced. Thus, its cost is low, easy-to-instal, stable and reliable. Moreover, it does not require installation of wires and the usage of electricity.
How-to-use
Each visitor receives his or her CuckooGuide from the central issuing desk (usually the ticket counter or reception).
They can then set their preferred language and level for the rest of their tour, using the buttons on the CuckooGuide itself.
When visitors tap the RFID Tag beside an exhibit, the pre-set language and level of commentary will be played.
